World Environment Day Observed at SAU with Awareness & Plantation Drive

World Environment Day 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day , the Geographical Society, Botanical Society, and Zoological Society of Sikkim Alpine University, in collaboration with the Disaster Risk Reduction Club , organized an Environmental Awareness and Plantation Programme to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable living.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, reflecting their shared commitment to environmental conservation and ecological sustainability. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources, adopting environmentally responsible practices, and addressing pressing environmental challenges.

A key highlight of the programme was the plantation drive conducted across the university campus. Participants planted saplings and engaged in discussions on the crucial role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, enhancing air quality, mitigating climate change, and preserving biodiversity. The activity underscored the significance of collective action in safeguarding the environment for future generations.
