World Day for Glaciers 2026

The Botanical Society of Sikkim Alpine University successfully organized an awareness programme to mark World Day for Glaciers in March 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Aita Rani Subba (HoD) and the Faculties of Department of Botany.

The event featured insightful talks, research presentations, a documentary screening, quiz session, poem recitation, and an environmental pledge—highlighting the crucial role of glaciers as freshwater reservoirs and key indicators of climate change, especially in the Himalayan region.

A special talk by Dr. Subhankar Gurung added depth to the programme, emphasizing the urgent need for conservation and sustainable action.
