School of Languages & Literature
Every language carries a world of knowledge.
Welcome to the School of Languages & Literature at Sikkim Alpine University.
Language and literature are central to human expression, cultural identity, intellectual growth and the sharing of knowledge across generations. They help us understand different perspectives, preserve collective memories and engage meaningfully with the world.
Through English, Nepali, Lepcha and Limboo language and literary traditions, we encourage critical inquiry, creativity, effective communication and a lifelong appreciation of learning. Sikkim and the wider Himalayas offer rich opportunities for literary exploration, linguistic research and the preservation of oral traditions and indigenous knowledge.
We aim to nurture curious, culturally sensitive, ethically responsible and professionally capable graduates. I invite students, researchers, faculty and academic collaborators to celebrate the richness of languages and contribute to a more inclusive and culturally informed society.
With best wishes,
Dr. Manorma Thapa
