Sikkim Alpine University Wraps Up Four-Day Extravaganza with Annual Sports Meet

Annual Sports Meet: June 3, 2023 — Sikkim Alpine University (SAU) recently played host to its Annual Sports Meet, spanning four action-packed days from May 31 to June 3, 2023. The campus buzzed with excitement as students showcased their prowess in a diverse range of indoor and outdoor games, including chess, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, tug of war, and football.

The thrilling festivities kicked off on the first day with events such as Tug of War, Chess competition, and Volleyball. The winners in various categories included:

• Tug of War (Women’s): Students from Limboo, Mass Communication, Botany, and Zoology departments. Tug of War (Men’s): Students from Limboo, Political Science, and Lepcha departments.
• Chess: Mr. Aniket Rai from the Geography department.

The excitement continued on the second day with Badminton and Table Tennis competitions, revealing outstanding performances from the following winners:

• Badminton (Women’s) Single: Ms. Ranjana Pradhan, Zoology department.
• Badminton (Men’s) Single: Mr. Nim Tenzing Sherpa, Commerce department. Badminton (Men’s) Double: Mr. Nim Tenzing Sherpa & Kundey Hang Subba, Commerce department.
• Badminton (Women’s) Double: Ms. Ranjana Pradhan & Mennu Chettri, Zoology department.
• Table Tennis (Men’s): Mr. Bishal Rai, Economics department.
• Table Tennis (Women’s): Ms. Ranjana Pradhan, Zoology department.

The third day was marked by thrilling Football and Volleyball matches, with the football competition culminating in the following results:

• Football (Women’s): Life Sciences department.
• Football (Men’s): Commerce and Management department.

The Sports Meet concluded on a high note with a spectacular prize distribution ceremony.
