A senior professor with an academic experience of about 40 years, Prof. Hari Bahadur Srivastava assumed duties as Vice Chancellor of Siddhartha University Kapilvastu, Siddhartha Nagar on Thursday, 1st. July, 2021. Prof. Srivastava has a very vast and impressive academic as well as administrative experience.

After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in Geology from Banaras Hindu University he joined as Lecturer in 1981 and appointed as Reader in 1991. In 1999 he was appointed as professor in the same department. He has carried out Post-Doctoral Research in the University of Minnesota, USA under National Fellowship Programme Govt. of India from March, 1991 to April, 1993 and Research Associateship under Mari Curie Fellowship programme of European Economic Community at University of Rennes, France in 1993-94.

Before joining as the Ombudsperson of Sikkim Alpine University, Sikkim Prof Srivastava was the Dean of Faculty of Science Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He was also International Students Advisor and Chairman of International Centre, BHU.

He was President (Earth System Sciences) 96th Session Indian Science Congress, Association. .

Presently he is member of Steering Committee for Implementation of National Mission on Himalayan Studies Min. of Environment Forest and climatic changes, Govt. of India and member and Chairman of Governing Body of Birbal Sahani Institute of Paleo botany Lucknow
